During severe weather events, like tornadoes, our facility will serve as a shelter for those without a safe place.
We have a large basement with plenty of room for large groups, including a sensory room for those who may need a quieter space to stay safe in.
Things to Know:
Watch Parties
Local authorities advise people to seek shelter during a tornado watch rather than waiting for a tornado warning. To support this, we will host a “Watch Party” whenever a severe weather event leads to a tornado watch. The event will feature family-friendly movies, snacks, and plenty of play areas for children.
SJC Pet Policy:
If possible, please leave your pets at home.
If you can not leave your pets at home, we have a few policies you need to know before bringing them. Please read and follow all of them to help ensure a safe environment for everyone.
-Pet(s) need to be up to date on their shots and vaccinations
-Please bring a crate for your pet(s) and a way to restrain them(preferably a harness)
-Pet(s) must be accompanied by an owner who is able to control the pet(s).
-Owners will be required to stay with their pet(s) at all times
-To minimize allergy risks and accommodate expected attendees, we will establish a designated “Pet Suite” for all animals. All animals must remain in this room with their owners.
-Any animals that display aggressive behavior towards other animals, staff, volunteers, or individuals seeking shelter in the building may be asked to leave for safety reasons.
We recognize that people love their pets; however, our main focus is to ensure a safe environment for everyone seeking shelter. We appreciate your cooperation in following the established policies.
